Devils Tower has several hiking trails. Visitors may refill reusable containers with water at designated restrooms in the park. Is there food/water in the park? There is no food in the park. Our Parking page provides more information on how to visit with an oversized vehicle/trailer. Where do I park? There are three designated parking areas for visitors: visitor center lot, picnic area lot, and Joyner Ridge trailhead. When visiting recreate responsibly and practice Leave No Trace Ethics. We recommend visiting during weekdays, early in the morning, or in the evening. Our busiest time of year is during the summer season from May to September. When is the best time to visit? The access point is located 9 miles south of Hulett, WY. How do I get to the monument? The park is accessible by a single road- WY Hwy 24. You may walk your pets in parking areas, along roadways, in picnic areas, and at the campground if they are secured on a leash no longer than 6 feet. They are restricted from being on trails or in buildings. There is a designated state historic marker 1.7 miles south of WY-110 (Main Park Road).Ĭan I bring my pet? Pets are allowed at the park. You may spot bison, mule and white deer, porcupines, prairie dogs, bats, turkey and rattlesnakes among the Ponderosa Pine forests and cottonwood-dotted fields of the monument, or prairie falcons nesting in the cracks of Devils Tower.Can I see the Tower from outside the park? Yes. Wildlife Viewingĭevils Tower National Monument and the surrounding area are home to a diverse range of plants and animals, making it a popular destination for wildlife viewing. Some of the popular paths are paved and accessible, while others take you through forests and prairie meadows. There are approximately eight miles of hiking trails at Devils Tower that take you around the monument. Because the site is considered sacred by Native American tribes, there is a voluntary climbing closure during the month of June. Technical rock climbing is permitted, but all climbers must register at the Visitor Center before climbing, and then check-in afterwards upon departure. Vertical faces of igneous rock with hundreds of parallel cracks make Devils Tower one of the most appealing places for traditional crack climbing in North America. A full listing of programs is available in the Visitor Center. Programs can include a tower walk, natural and cultural talks, a Junior Ranger Program and evening programs held under the stars. Ranger ProgramsĪ full schedule of interpretive activities and ranger-led programs is offered Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, with some programs continuing into September.
